On Wednesday I took a much needed break while my babysitter watched Ben. I was thinking about what to do when I happened upon trailer for the new X-men movie. I got online and found a movie theatre that had a morning movie. PERFECT, I thought! Well, I arrived at the movie theatre right on time. It was totally dead although the door was open. Someone came up to me and asked, “Can I help you?” I said, “Yes, I’d like to see a movie.” She looked at me like I was crazy. I looked around to make sure I was actually IN a movie theatre- and yes, I’m not THAT sleep deprived. It turns out the movie time was for 10PM. Ooops. So, I found myself sitting in the hot car deciding what to do next. Should I scan my FB invites for an activity, take a walk on the crowded trails, find another theater with an early movie (turns out this doesn’t exist), rush to a yoga studio or, perhaps, this was an invitation to do less and slow way down.
I accepted this calling and headed to a cafe to pick up a yummy salad.
I ate it slowly and enjoyed every bite. It was amazing. What an encouragement to do some more self care and not be too busy to take time for myself… to really BE with myself.
